Many people misunderstand and/or misuse the concept of faith and works, but here is a perfect example of God’s principle at work.
“Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.” ~Matthew 9.2 KJV
- The individual was paralyzed, and therefore, could not get to Jesus Christ himself.
- The others (his friends) believed (had faith) that Jesus Christ could heal their friend, so they did what they could to get him to Jesus…with his consent.
- Because of the crowd inside around Jesus, they opened the roof and lowered their friend into the room to make sure that their friend could get to Jesus.
- Jesus saw the faith of the friends and healed the paralytic.
So, yes! Faith without works (actions that correspond to what you say you believe) is dead. Without faith shown here (that God could see), the paralytic would not have been healed.
We have to understand and operate in the principles of God’s Kingdom, in Jesus Name and by the power of Holy Spirit, in order to abide in God’s Kingdom.
