Death and Life Are in The Power of The Tongue. But, What Does It All Mean?

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” ~Proverbs 18.21
But, What Does It All Mean?
In order to understand what this Scripture from Proverbs 18.21 means, you have to start here:
“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:”
~Deuteronomy 30.19
And here…
(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)”
~2 Corinthians 10.4
And here…
God is Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”  ~John 4.24

The last Scripture noted here (John 4.24) explains the others.

If you do not understand that God is Spirit, then you cannot understand His Word.

God is always speaking out of the spiritual principle first and foremost.

Proverbs 18.21:  Death and life are spiritual forces that manifest through the human tongue.  The one you love most (death or life, as evidenced by how you use your words toward God and others) is the one you will eat the fruit of.

Deuteronomy 30.19:  God is Life (Genesis 2.7, John 3.17, etc.).  So in this verse He is informing you that He has given you the examples and instructions necessary for you to tell the difference between what spirit brings death and what Spirit brings life.

But, if you are to align with God, Who is Life, you have to believe, and therefore, think, speak, and act, in a manner that brings His life to you, and through you to others.  Choose Life is not a slogan, it is God revealing to you Who He is, and telling you to follow Him (The Way, The Truth, The Life).

2 Corinthians 10.4:  God considers your tongue to be a weapon for or against His Kingdom.  Why?  Because are you created in His Image and Likeness.  If you refer to Genesis 1.1 and Genesis 1.3, you will see that God created by moving according to His Spirit, then speaking.

The same is true for you.  The spirit in you moves and speaks to create.  This is why how you use your tongue is of utmost significance to God.  What spirit are you moving in?  How are you using your tongue?  To bring death?  Or, as a reflection of God through you, to bring Life? #Selah
